« Sans-Pareil 1690 »


"Sans-Pareil 1690" is a small re-enactment group which recreates the navy of king Louis XIV of France.

Its members play the role of marine soldiers and of sailors. They may also wear french infantry uniforms when asked to take part in a display far from the sea.

Members of the group took part in the following events :

- battle of Malplaquet 1709-2009 (France, near the Belgian border)

- siege of Carrickfergus 1689-2009 (Northern Ireland)

- battle of Almanza 1707-2009 (Spain)

- battle of Oudenaarde 1708-2008 (Belgium)

- official opening of The Boyne visitors centre (Republic of Ireland), May 2008, a ceremony in relation with the peace process in Northern Ireland

- organization of an international display in Mont-Louis fortress ( french Catalogne), August 2007 :
